McKercher LLP (formerly McKercher McKercher & Whitmore LLP) is the new name of our Saskatchewan member firm as they rebrand the firm. In part, the name change was necessary because McKercher partner, Peter Whitmore, was appointed to the province's Court of Queen's Bench. According to the rules of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, Peter Whitmore's name cannot be used on any firm materials (or even over the door); therefore, the firm used the opportunity to rebrand in accordance with the trend toward more abbreviated firm names. www.mckercher.ca

Winners Wins Asian Legal Business (ALB) Award: Tianjin Law Firm of the Year

HERMANN and Howard Kennedy partners speak in St. Petersburg for INSOL conference

LAW member firms HERMANN Rechtsanwälte, Wirtschaftprüfer, Steuerberater (Frankfurt am Main) and Howard Kennedy ( London ) participated in this year's annual conference of INSOL Europe´s Accessing Countries Committee, held in St. Petersburg, Russia in May.

Being Europe´s leading organisation for insolvency lawyers and practitioners and having its focus on the growing economic bridges between Western and Eastern Europe, INSOL Europe has established a committee to enhance the cooperation between insolvency professionals from Western and Eastern Europe. After four successful conferences,  the St. Petersburg conference was organised jointly with Russian insolvency professionals. HERMANN not only supported the conference as a sponsor, but was also with its members, Ottmar Hermann and Daniel F. Fritz, represented in the Organisation and Technical Committee of this Conference.  Howard Kennedy´s partner Vernon Dennis contributed to this conference as speaker.

The involvement of both firms and the kind support of LAW as one of the co-sponsors made LAW more visible within the European insolvency scene, and especially in the Russian and Eastern European legal world, as there were over 200 delegates participating in this conference.
