Fruytier Lawyers in Business advised Norden Shipyard, part of Hicri Ercili Shipyard – a major player in the shipping industry, on the acquisition of Shipyard De Schroef, from H. Hoornaert. De Schroef is located in Sas van Gent along the busy shipping route of the Ghent-Terneuzen canal. The shipyard provides various services for seagoing and inland vessels up to a length of 162 meters, including repair, conversion, outfitting and new construction. The facilities (including two dry docks and a slipway) are fully equipped to perform work above and below the waterline. Today, it is one of the most important repair shipyards in its region with its 2 floating docks, slipway, repair dock and workshops on an area of 42,000 square meters. Both canal type ships and offshore structures are within the service range of the shipyard.

Partner Myrddin van Westendorp led the transaction together senior associate Koen Wanders. The team further consisted of associates Koen Boonekamp and Ravinder Sukul. Archipel advised on the tax elements of the project and SluisWest on the environmental aspects.
