The acquired portfolio comprises Sofitel Victoria Warsaw, a luxury hotel located in the centre of the Polish capital, and three hotels in Szczecin: Novotel Szczecin Centrum, Ibis Szczecin Centrum and Ibis Styles Szczecin Stare Miasto. The transaction closed following receipt by De Silva City of merger clearance from the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
GESSEL advised De Silva City on the regulatory, transactional and real estate aspects of the acquisition. The firm prepared the merger filing, including its own analysis of the local markets for hotel services, and represented the client in the proceedings before the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. The proceedings resulted in unconditional merger clearance on 22 July 2026.
The GESSEL team also reviewed selected transaction documents, advised on the legal considerations relevant to the acquisition and recommended solutions taking into account the risks and commercial objectives of the transaction.
The acquisition expands De Silva City’s portfolio with properties ranging from the economy to the luxury segment and strengthens the company’s presence in Warsaw and Szczecin. The transaction represents another stage in the development of De Silva City’s business in the Polish hospitality market.
