GHR Rechtsanwälte AG advised ZF CV Systems Global GmbH, a subsidiary of ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF), on the acquisition of a stake in embotech AG, Zurich, (embotech), a leading developer of soft-ware for autonomous driving and robotics.
ZF acquired a 25 percent share in embotech AGthus entering into a strategic partnership with the Swiss company. The cooperation with embotech is a consistent further development of ZF’s “Next Generation Mobility” strategy.
The partnership gives ZF access to embotech AG’s software which enables vehicles to make decisions independently and thus supports automated driving. Providing a scalable and reliable solution for Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS) on restricted areas, the partnership will develop customer-tailored automated solutions to support multiple applications. This includes logistics yards, ports, airports, mining, and agricultural operations as well as bus depots. Another project is the development of an intelligent predictive cruise control that takes traffic flow, traffic signals, and topographical conditions into account.
