Lawyers Associated Worldwide(LAW) spoke with Peter-Jan Bossuyt, Founding Partner at Dupont Partners and LAW Primary Contact. Here is our conversation:
LAW: What motivated you to pursue a career in law?
Peter-Jan: I was born into a family where law and public service are a way of life—both my parents practiced law for over 40 years, my sister is a judge at the Brussels Court of Appeal, my uncle served as President of the Belgian Constitutional Court, and a cousin is a notary. Growing up in this environment instilled in me a deep respect for the law, but my curiosity was equally drawn to the financial world. During the dot-com bubble, a summer internship at the brokerage firm Leleux Associated Brokers opened my eyes to the inner workings of companies: IPOs, debt issuances, and complex corporate structures. I became fascinated with understanding the rules behind these transactions, and this drive to bridge law and business ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in law, helping clients navigate complex, high-stakes challenges with clarity and precision.
LAW: Can you highlight a recent achievement or recognition for Dupont Partners?
Peter-Jan: Joining the LAW network marks an important milestone for Dupont Partners, a moment that reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and a clear vision. When we founded the firm on 1 December 2018, we started from a small attic room in an old townhouse owned by a client who kindly offered us temporary space. There was no Wi‑Fi upstairs, only our 4G connection and a small, basic printer. From those humble beginnings, our ambition was to build a high-quality, independent law firm with an international outlook and strong local expertise. Becoming part of the LAW network is a concrete step forward in realizing that vision and expanding our global collaboration.
